Open reference · API v1

A clear view
of the catalogue.

A versioned, read-only API for exploring source-linked human health topics, animal and vector associations, and JRPG2's AutoDoctor and Angel of Medicine reference manifests.

Start with the resources

Use the origin serving this page. On the published GoldenHumanoid.com site, the API base is https://goldenhumanoid.com/api. In development, the same-origin API base is /api.

01 / Conditions

Search the disease guides

Return source references, broad geographic context, animal-association roles and pagination metadata.

GET/api/v1/health/conditions?limit=100&offset=0
Try first 10 entries ↗
GET/api/v1/health/conditions/{slug}
02 / Animal records

Follow the host links

Distinguish vectors, animal hosts or reservoirs, and intermediate hosts. An association alone does not establish a direct animal-to-animal route.

Experience manifests

Read the manifest for each experience; it returns the shared resource paths and integration limitations.

04 / Search

Filter one shared index

Combine a query with documented condition or animal filters. Use search for discovery; paginate full records from the collection endpoints.

GET/api/search?q=malaria&kind=condition&limit=10

Two-page pagination

Each catalogue record list returns items, total, limit and offset. The maximum page size is 100. Follow pages until the offset reaches the reported total.

fetch(location.origin + '/api/v1/health/conditions?limit=100&offset=0')
Choose “Run example” to fetch up to 100 public condition guides from this origin.

Example client

const base = location.origin + "/api";
const response = await fetch(base + "/v1/health/conditions?limit=100&offset=0", {
  headers: { Accept: "application/json" }
});
if (!response.ok) throw new Error("Request failed: " + response.status);
const page = await response.json();
console.log(page.items, page.total, page.offset);

// Request the next page while offset < total:
const next = await fetch(base + "/v1/health/conditions?limit=100&offset=100");

Responses are publicly cacheable for five minutes, with stale-while-revalidate. Re-fetch detail and page records as needed; do not use the API as an urgent or live-surveillance service.

Schemas & evidence

The machine-readable OpenAPI 3.1 YAML contract documents paths, parameters, enums, response envelopes, the geographic-context profile and error responses. The catalogue is curated and has pagination; consumers should follow total rather than assume the first page is complete.

Medical limits

Stay within the evidence

Honor source notes, host roles and geographic caveats. A representative map point is not a case location, precise range, incidence count or risk forecast. Missing geographic data means unreviewed—not absent.

Integration boundary

Wire it into the JRPG2 clients

Published reference manifests do not automatically modify or connect external pages. JRPG2 should fetch this public API and present its medical-safety boundary clearly in both client experiences.

Discover bird species automatically

Eaglemind and other JRPG2 clients can load the Birds collection without a hard-coded species list. Fetch every page and use the returned slugs as stable record IDs. Newly published birds appear in this collection automatically; refresh it on a later visit rather than saving a fixed count.

const base = "https://goldenhumanoid.com";
const birds = [];
let offset = 0;
for (;;) {
  const response = await fetch(base +
    "/api/v1/health/animals?group=Birds&limit=100&offset=" + offset);
  if (!response.ok) throw new Error("Bird discovery failed: " + response.status);
  const page = await response.json();
  if (!page.items.length && offset < page.total)
    throw new Error("Incomplete bird catalogue");
  birds.push(...page.items);
  offset += page.items.length;
  if (offset >= page.total) break;
}
// name = common name; scientificName = an individual species' scientific name.
// role, conditionSlugs, note, source and image preserve the evidence context.

The Birds collection includes both older broad groups and individual species. Species records have scientificName; grouped records may omit it. Birds are not automatically vectors or proven reservoirs. West Nile species links here document historical CDC detections, including some captive birds—not reservoir competence, a direct human transmission route, or a present-day range. An empty condition list means no species-level disease link has been reviewed here; it does not mean disease-free.

Animal & vector images

Every animal record in both list and detail responses includes an image object with an absolute WebP URL, accessible alt text, subject, educational caption and creator/licence credits. To retrieve images linked to a disease, use /api/v1/health/animals?conditionSlug=malaria.

const response = await fetch(
  "https://goldenhumanoid.com/api/v1/health/animals/culex-mosquito"
);
if (!response.ok) throw new Error("Request failed: " + response.status);
const { item } = await response.json();
const image = document.createElement("img");
image.src = item.image.url;
image.alt = item.image.alt;
image.loading = "lazy";
// Also display item.image.caption and creator/licence/source credits.
// licenseUrl is null when no licence terms URL is supplied.

Image fields: url, alt, subject, caption, artist, license, licenseUrl, sourceUrl, sourceLabel, mimeType. Retain attribution and follow each original image licence, including share-alike requirements where applicable. Some images are scientific illustrations, and the house-mouse mite entry uses an original generic mite schematic—not a species-identification photograph. Representative images never imply that an animal is infected.
